At about 6:35 a.m. Wednesday, a person driving a pickup on Fifth Avenue South noticed smoke begin to appear from the engine. The driver pulled into a parking lot in the 3500 block of Fifth Avenue South, where the engine caught fire. The Fort Dodge Fire Department was able to extinguish the flames quickly but the vehicle was destroyed, according to Fire Chief Steve Hergenreter. No injuries were reported.
