Iowa Artists Region 5 held the annual Art Show at the Iowa Central BioScience and Health Sciences Building on April 8. Blue ribbon winners are Gwen Foster (seated), Ankeny, one each for her watercolors, “Apricots & Peaches” and “Baciata dal Sole”, and in back from left are Susan Colby, Clive, for her pastel “Dogman Peydan”; Delayne Segar, Fort Dodge, for her pastel, “Makayla”; Doyle Wilson, Boone, for his wood, “Mom & Two”; and Mary Johnson, Ankeny, for her watercolor, “Tempest”. The show was judged by Rusty Farrington, Iowa Central Community College art professor. The first-place blue ribbon winners advance on the the Iowa Artists State Show in Ames on May 13. Iowa Artists is a statewide group of artists with 12 regions. Region 5 consists of Boone, Carroll, Polk, Webster, Greene, Guthrie, Calhoun and Dallas counties. Red ribbon second-place winners are: Gwen Foster, Ankeny; Jeanine Carithers, West Des Moines; Rita Wheeler, Ogden; Jean Johnson, Boone; Delayne Segar, Fort Dodge; and Deborah Zisko, Boone. White ribbon third-place winners are Flo Hayes, Urbandale; Joan Sullivan, Fort Dodge; Susan Colby, Clive; Judy Wallace, Ogden; and Mary Johnson, Ankeny. Yellow ribbon honorable mention winners are Flo Hayes, Urbandale; Judy Wallace, Ogden; Jeanine Carithers, West Des Moines; Delayne Segar, Fort Dodge; Kathy Strohl, Madrid; Mary Johnson, Ankeny; Tom Holcomb, Adel; and Sharon Scandrett-Hipdon.
