Cutting corners with marketing is a huge mistake!

March 10, 2009 - Dave Jakeman
The running theme for business owners in 2009 appears to be "trimming the fat" from their expenses.  Its a great idea to take a look at your expenses and consider what you really need and what expenses can be eliminated without making a negative impact on your bottom line.

Many business owners look at marketing and advertising as an added expense instead of what it really is, an investment into the future and ongoing success of your business.  Here are four reasons why successful companies INCREASE their advertising during slow economic times.
  1. The competition is likely to cut back on Advertising.
  2. Frequent ads of successful companies become more visible to the customer.
  3. Studies show that companies advertising during slow economic times increase Market Share.
  4. Companies that cut advertising will lose market share.  Some will even close their doors.
Advertising works over time because it builds brand awareness.  When you are not advertising the consumer forgets your name and may not think of you when they need your service.  Its important to let the consumer know why you are better than your competition.

Even though budgets are tight right now, the current slowdown is a great opportunity to increase your market share and get ahead of your competition.  The investment today will pay huge dividends for the future of your business.
