I Shop Locally
June 9, 2009 - Dave Jakeman
Attention Business Owners:
Please consider this an invitation to participate in The Messenger's "I Shop Locally" Rewards Promotion in July and August.
In an attempt to increase sales and transactions at local shops and businesses during 2009, The Messenger will reward two customers of a local business with a $1,000 grand prize. There will also be a $100 prize each week of the eight-week promotion. We hope the prize is big enough to encourage residents to make an effort to shop locally at your business.
This program rewards residents who do business with local merchants and businesses. Each time shoppers make a purchase or do a transaction at a participating store or business, they can get their "I Shop Locally" rewards card stamped. After three stamps, they can drop that rewards card into the collection box at any participating store or business.
That rewards card acts as an entry and gives them a chance to win one of the two $1,000 grand prizes and the $100 weekly prize. After completing one card, they can pick up another card and start the process over. They can register as many times as they like. Those who do the most business with local stores and businesses have the best chance of winning the prizes.
Each participating store or business will be listed as an "I Shop Locally"
Three times per week The Messenger and The Messenger Extra will run a full-page advertisement listing all of the participating businesses by community to aid shoppers in finding rewards centers. We will also use the space to show our weekly winners. Your business will be identified by name and address. Your participation will cost $190; $95 per month and you will be billed monthly. In addition we will feature smaller teaser ads in The Messenger during the contest and during additional advertising in June to build interest in the program.
This promotion gives the business community a chance to "reward" residents for doing business locally. We encourage you to develop your own "I Shop Locally" specials or promotions. If your business can't offer specials, we suggest you have "I Shop Locally" appreciation items such as treats or mints available at your business.
We think rewarding your customers in this fashion - with a large cash giveaway and in store specials and business appreciation items - is a good way to generate interest for our local businesses. We hope it will increase sales and overall market activity. If the shopper has a chance to win one of the two $1,000 prizes they might decide to visit your location instead of another store or area.
Thanks for considering our program. We hope this program is just the first of many "I Shop Locally" events during the year and that they help increase the sense of pride that residents and business people already have in our local communities. To participate in this program, please call today. 515-573-2141
