Help your community this holiday season!
December 20, 2010 - Dave Jakeman
Well, we are coming to a close on 2010 and I am sure everyone is right in the middle of their holiday shopping (or, if you’re like me, you are just getting started). Remember to make the extra effort to spend your hard earned dollars locally whenever possible.
Dollars spent in our local community helps strengthen our community in many ways: • Results in an increase in sales taxes becoming available to our area. • Helps keep our small businesses strong in our community • You are helping your neighbors, and it is easier to build relationships with these local business owners that you see at ball games, in church, and at various functions around town. They, in turn, will provide you better customer service. • Your dollars spent are recycled throughout the community. After your dollar is spent at a store, your dollars go to a bank, then goes back out to someone applying for a home or auto loan, or even loans for higher education.
So when you are filling out your Christmas lists, keep in mind that spending your dollars locally will help our local economy in many ways, and keep Fort Dodge progressing as a community.
