Red Cross to raise funds
The Brushy Creek Area Chapter of the American Red Cross will host the 11th annual Ducks Against Disasters fundraising event on Saturday at the Webster County Fairgrounds. At 6 p.m., the Webster County Fair king and queen will “pluck the lucky ducks” from a special duck pond to determine the winners of several great prizes. Ducks may be adopted in advance at the Red Cross office, 33 N. 16th St., or from any Red Cross board member. Adoptions will also be available at the Webster County Fairgrounds on the day of the event from 2 to 6 p.m. Winners do not need to be present to win. Duck adoptions are $5 each, six for $25, 12 for $50 and $100 for a flock of ducks (25 ducks). Prizes include sporting event tickets, restaurant gift certificates, golf opportunities and gift cards. Proceeds from the event will make it possible for the Red Cross to provide disaster relief for local area residents affected by disasters (flooding, house fires, and other emergencies).
