Happy Mother’s Day, mothers everywhere, whether you’re eating breakfast in bed or scrambling your own eggs.
As a celebration, Mother’s Day has become one of the world’s most well-known days, but it’s not always easy to talk about what makes your mother special to you.
When The Messenger asked readers to tell us about their mothers, the replies all said the same thing, no matter what words were used. Every mom is special to her family; every mom kept the family strong with her love and comfort and determination.

Art is on exhibit
Former Fort Dodger Ben Schuh has set up a one-man show called “Emotion,” exhibiting paintings he calls bold depictions of urban, rural and personal subjects.
The exhibit will run through June 14 at the Ankeny Art Center.
