Tritons win two more
MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Iowa Central baseball team picked up two victories Tuesday against Mercer County and Garrett. The Tritons (12-1 overall) defeated Mercer (New Jersey) 12-6 and knocked off Garrett (Maryland) 6-5 in the nightcap to win their ninth consecutive game in a row. Iowa Central brought three runs across the place in the first inning to take an early lead against Mercer. Mercer scored five runs in the third to bring the score to 6-5, but the Tritons scored six runs in the final three innings. Andy Yetzer earned the win on the mound. Tyler Leadley went 2-for-3 while Nick Johnson had a single and a double. Nick Colwell had three RBI and Ryan Keel added three stolen bases. Iowa Central also took an advantage against Garrett in the first inning, bringing two runs across in the first compared to one by Garrett. After both teams scored four runs in the sixth, the first-inning advantage went on to make the difference.
