Des Moines man accused of killing wife was ordered to surrender guns 2 weeks before shooting
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Des Moines man accused of shooting his estranged wife to death and wounding a police officer during a standoff had been ordered by a Polk County judge last month to surrender his firearms.
Court records show 38-year-old Randall Moore agreed to the civil order from Polk County Judge Karen Romano. Moore is accused of killing his wife, Teresann Lynch Moore, with a shotgun Wednesday and injuring Des Moines police officer Todd Roland.
Polk County Attorney John Sarcone says under the order, it was Moore's responsibility to surrender the firearms by Oct. 26. It was unclear how Moore obtained the shotgun or how long he possessed it.
Lynch Moore and four other women had received protective orders against Moore.
