Help create a miracle
To the editor:

The caregivers at both the Oleson Park Zoo and the animal shelter have worked within a sparse budget for many years. Both organizations are nonprofit and receive no funding from city or county tax revenue. Both are funded entirely by donations.
Having to live in a cage in an animal shelter — not feeling at all special — makes life for an already homeless, traumatized and unloved animal even more sad. I’ve been to the shelter and although the animals are given the best care under the circumstances, I wondered if some of them weren’t actually praying in their own way for something good to happen to them. The pleading and sadness in their eyes as they reached their little paws out to me through the bars of their cages is something not easily forgotten.
