Regardless if one is for or against the SSMID, it seems there was a need for a certain amount of signatures for the petition. It also seems they came up short of the deadline. It seems some businesses are not giving their support for this. Normally when a petition fails to reach the number of valid signatures in time, it is considered to have failed. I would like to know where the petitions are that are NOT for the new tax. I have a business just off 5th Ave S and don't believe for a minute that the extra tax that I pay will be spent on the street in front of my property. It will just force me to charge my customers more to pay for the increase in tax that will not benefit them in the service I provide.
