Brucee: I have a SecDef Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, his highest award for civilian service, for saving the US $4 billion in supporting assistance over 10 years, so guess MY retirement check is really a bargain for you and Uncle Sam. It hangs by my other, military service medals. However, I've been on record here for supporting an across-the-board trimming of present and future govt pensions until they come more in line with the pvt sector for they are ridiculously generous. By retirement, one should be able to survive comfortably on 50% of pre-retirement income. But had my and the govt's 7% contributions just been put in a market-basket of securities instead of being squandered by Congress, my federal retirement would easily be paid for itself; indeed, had surplus SS receipts been so invested, SS would now own the entire pvt productive capacity of the US. I know MY pvt investments, all from salary, have done much better for me.

Vilsack's Ag Dept memo blessing out a guy there for suggesting ways to mitigate effects of INCREASING outlays this year A LITTLE LESS than planned and instructing that miscreant to make the tiny sequestration cut as painful as possible must have been Dept-wide and hit DOT/FAA as well. My handkerchief is sopped with tears! If only Michelle would give up a few of her 17-person personal staff we might at least save those tourist tours of her mansion in DC.
