Any of you worriers turn down seedless naval oranges or those really new apple varieties on the market now, or how about hybrid varieties of sweet corn? How about miracle and yellow rice, all genetically modified and, thankfully, filling a lot of otherwise empty bellies around the world? Calories are not minerals or vitamins, you know; all are necessary and have their proper place in one's diet.

Is that why Methuselah lived so long, soundco? You really think kids would be slimmer if all the soft drinks they now consume were just sweetened with cane sugar? I and my kids drank water except on the rarest of occasions; bet you and yours did, too; now water is hardly touched by kids, and that's their parent's fault - and an indulgent welfare system's. Calories are calories, regardless of source; the rest is psuedoscience.

Let's not get into that fructose thing, soundco; it is indistinguishable from sugars from other sources except in price, which is, of course, due to fed interference in cane sugar production. Obesity has more to do with family problems and kids sitting in front of TV's and electronic gadget instead of mowing lawns, scooping snow, and otherwise getting off their rear ends. My mom didn't have time to get fat, but did put wholesome meals on the table three times a day - I carries the cobs, coal and water, etc., etc, delivered papers, waited tables and Lord knows what else. If you expect different now, suggest you watch adults and kids leaving Walmart some time.
