This is just a comment regarding spending. On my trips around town, I keep seeing these walking trails or whatever you want to call them and was amazed at all the walkers on them - NOT. And the trail down by the river? They need to do some clean up down there if they want it to look decent. Considering this ONE trail cost 2 MILLION dollars. Sure, the city only paid half of that, but still. A million dollars for a walking trail?

Was it better when your brother was Mayor? Did he cost us any money?

I believe the point is after recieving numerous notices from the Waste disposal plant being in violation, the city chose to ignore it. When it comes to dealing with the citizens of Fort Dodge the city is all over it. One example could be snow removal. If you walk is not cleared in 24 hours there is no notice just a hefty bill from the city that they will attach on to property taxes if you don't pay.

Big silk i'm not sure so dont kill me if I'm wrong but all the trails were paid for thru grants that could not be spent in other areas correct?

The trails get lots of use, it just might be hard for you to see the people using them as you wizz by in your car. Pick the next nice day out and take the walk and you will see the people. There are lots of things that I pay taxes for that I don't use, just as there are things a I pay taxes for that I do use. Yen and Yang.

Send the money some where else. Don't have anything to say to that.

Joe, the main trail I'm referring to is the one down in "Pleasant" Valley. If I'm not mistaken, the city paid $1 million of that and a grant took care of the other one million. Personally, I hope it does get used a lot, but I wouldn't look for it to happen.

hbockoven... do you feel the same way about the grant being used to fund the Cross town connector? Isn't that just a waste of money too? :)

If you got off your duff Big ol' Slick, and actually used the trails you might see all the happy people using them. If you start walking you may be able to be just Slick. Turn off the computer and get out on the trails! Kratos has spoken!

Kr8tOs, if you knew me and my problems, maybe you'd be singing a different tune. Thanks to Vietnam's "souvenirs" I don't do a lot of walking or such. Knees & back psin put a kibosh on most forms of exercise, thank you, so I exercise my keyboard.
