This project started when I was in school and now I'm retired. I don't think I will ever see it's completion. Mason City has at least survied the last several years with 2 main highways going by it. Fort Dodge used to be bigger in population then Mason City but are about 10,000 residents less if you take the prison population out of the totals. Companies do look at transportation and shipping when they look at sites. I think we would really benifit with a 4 lane highway across the state. They need to also look at jacking up the speed limit to match the interstate speeds to gain more traffic.

It's an INTERSTATE alternative across Iowa that will attract INTERSTATE traffic and related businesses that create wealth; traffic to and from Iowas Great Lakes merely consumes it. Sioux City is not the destination; I-29( and I-90/94 are.

Tax dollars would be better spent running 4 lane from Early, IA north to Spencer. The Iowa Great Lakes are a greater revenue generator for Iowa than anywhere else west of I-35. Who wants to go to Sioux City??
