Miklo earns Drake law school honors

DES MOINES - Former Fort Dodge resident Katie Miklo earned dean's list honors for the first semester at Drake University's School of Law. Miklo, a graduate of Saint Edmond High School and the University of Iowa, earned a 3.76 grade point average as well as achieving the school's highest grade in the Tort's - Advanced Problems class. Miklo, who will graduate from Drake Law in May, is also currently working for Drake University's Children's Rights Clinic and as a clerk for the law firm of Wiedenfeld & McLaughlin in Des Moines.

Brad McIntyre on Drake dean's List

DES MOINES - Brad McIntyre of Fort Dodge has been named to the Dean's List at Drake University for the fall 2008 term. To receive dean's list commendations, full-time students must earn a minimum 3.50 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Cagaanan on UI president's list

IOWA CITY - Alain P. Cagaanan, a 2007 graduate of Fort Dodge Senior High School, has been named to the president's list for the fall 2008 semester at the University of Iowa. Alain is a sophomore at UI, majoring in Neurobiology.

In order to be included in the list, a student must have a minimum 4.0 GPA in all academic subjects for the preceding two semesters while carrying a minimum of 12 credits.

DMACC names fall honor students

Des Moines Area Community College President Rob Denson recently released the names of students eligible for the fall semester president's list. To be eligible, a student must have earned a 4.0 grade point average.

FD Senior High Jazz Lab recieves honors

The Fort Dodge Senior High Jazz Lab earned its sixth consecutive Division I (Superior) Rating at the State Jazz Band Festival at Okoboji-Milford High School on Jan. 31. The band was adjudicated on sight-reading and their performance on the following selections, "Channel One Suite," "Kelly's Theme," and "Flight of the Foo Bird." The participants were Angela Bryan, David Liao, Matthew Carlson, Stephen Butterfield, Megan Cassady, Michael Richardson, Nick Shaw, Jacob Kinkner, Ben Neimann, Laura Klein, Blake Peterson, Lisa Moeller, Hayley Walstrom, Sophia Huang, Amanda Secor, Patrick Kelleher and Julian Tovar. The Jazz Lab is under the direction of Mike Richardson.
