St. Mark's Episcopal Church will hold a healing conference from 9 to 11:30 a.m. March 21.
The event is free and open to the public. A simple lunch will be served following the conference. St. Mark's is at 1007 First Ave. S.
Speaker for the event is the Rev. Robert A. Kem, an Episcopal priest and the chaplain of the Order of St. Luke the Physician in Central Iowa.
Kem is active in the healing ministry through the Living Waters Chapter of OSL in the Des Moines area. He was healed from cancer in 1991 and a heart attack in 2005 and offers his witness to Christ's healing in his life and in his ministry.
The Order of St. Luke the Physician is a world-wide interdenominational body of Christians who believe that the healing of the body, mind and spirit is a vital part of the total ministry of Jesus Christ. The order promotes the regular study of scriptures on healing. Members meet regularly to sponsor teaching and healing missions and pray for the on-going healing through physicians, nurses and all health ministries as a daily discipline for the order.
Believing God's primary concern for everyone is total healing, the order promotes this through healing prayer and the emphasis of forgiveness in relationships.
Those attending the healing conference are asked to RSVP by calling the church office at 576-2019.
