Three speakers are on tap for the mission's conference Oct. 10 through Oct. 13 at Harvest Baptist Church.

Dr. Wayne Sehmish, who ministers in Asia and particularly in Thailand, will speak. He's been quoted as saying, "Preaching that is not practical is purposeless."

The Rev. Doug Fisher from Lighthouse Baptist Church pastors a large congregation in San Diego with what has been described as a ministry that is "wholehearted" and "done up right proper." He will also be a speaker at the conference.

Dr. David Gibbs III, general counsel for the Christian Law Association, will also speak. He received national attention for his role in representing Terri Schiavo's parents. The Terri Schiavo case was a legal battle between the husband and the parents of Teresa Marie "Terri" Schiavo that lasted from 1998 to 2005. At issue was whether the equipment that had been used to sustain her life since 1990 - specifically a feeding tube - should have been disconnected, thereby allowing her to die.

In addition to these three speakers, missionaries from all over the world attend the conference.

The conference will emphasize spiritual leadership and missions. There will be evening services each night beginning at 7 p.m. On Oct. 12 and 13, there also will be daytime sessions. On Oct. 10 there will be a lunch served after the morning service at 10:45 a.m.

The public may attend all sessions. There is no charge.

The church is at 614 Second Ave. S. Information is available from the church office at 955-3074.
