HUMBOLDT - The musical ministry of Don Shires will be offered at 6 p.m. Nov. 14 for Sunday Night Lite at Oak Hill Church in Humboldt.

Shire is a Christian trumpeter with a passion for missions worldwide who offers a unique trumpet styling in church concerts, mission conferences and in evangelistic meetings throughout the United States and around the world. His music is heard on Christian radio across the United States and is played on some international stations. His musical arrangements, which vary in style from classical to jazz to gospel, appeal to all ages.

Alumni of Moody Bible Institute, Don and Kathy Shire have served in churches in the areas of youth, Christian education and music. He worked for years as president of two computer related businesses, but was ordained as a minister of the Gospel by Impact International in 1994.

In 1995, he responded to God's leading to leave the business arena and in 1997, the couple formed Don Shire Ministries, a mission organization offering short-term mission opportunities to anyone who is led of the Lord to serve. Since its inception, Don Shire Ministries has taken thousands of people on mission trips offering work projects, evangelism, teaching, children's programs, Christian camping and prison ministries. Several who have gone on these trips are now serving full time in the mission field.

The Shires live in northern Wisconsin, across the street from Silver Birch Ranch, a Christian camping ministry they have been involved with since 1980. He is co-hosts a weekly radio program called "Conversations" with Silver Birch Ranch's executive director.

His concert schedule takes him to the largest and the smallest churches in the United States to serve where the Lord leads him. His goal at each concert is to challenge those in attendance to live committed lives for the Lord and to help people understand how to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

One of Shire's favorite Bible verses is I Corinthians 14:8 "Again, if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?"

To date, Shire has ministered in more than 30 countries.
