Prairie Valley posts speech results

GOWRIE - The Prairie Valley speech team, coached by Ruth Nellis, competed at the Iowa State Individual Events Speech Contest on March 12 at Algona High School.

Students earning I ratings were Kaily MacDonald, radio news announcing; Anna Brandes, interpretation of prose; Allie Lansman, interpretation of poetry; Haley Pederson, expository address; Jenny Randleman, storytelling; Raeann Hanlon, expository address and interpretation of prose; and Rebecca Nellis, storytelling and interpretation of poetry. Brandes and Nellis earned a superior rating from all three judges.

Students earning II ratings were Hannah Carlson, interpretation of prose; Molly Moeller, interpretation of prose; Nick Dosland, radio news announcing; Jerry Johnson, interpretation of poetry; and Clayton Taylor, radio news announcing.

Anna Brandes will present in the interpretation of prose and Rebecca Nellis in the interpretation of poetry at the Iowa All-State Speech Festival at the University of Northern Iowa on March 28. Of more than 9,000 speeches given, beginning with competition in February, only 462 students have been invited to speak at All-State.
