Police investigate death of Hynes

Investigation continues into the death of a 70 year old Ronald L. Hynes in Fort Dodge Monday.

According to information from the Fort Dodge Police Department, at 7:49 p.m. Monday, department officers, along with Trinity Regional Medical Center emergency medical technicians and the Fort Dodge Fire Department were dispatched to a person-down call in parking lot of Community Tap & Pizza, 2026 Fifth Ave. S.

Upon arrival, first responders found an unconscious and unresponsive male lying in the parking lot north east of the restaurant. The male, later identified as Hynes, exhibited no obvious outward signs of trama, according to the police report. Hynes was transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center for additional evaluation and treatment. Hynes never regained consciousness and later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators with the Fort Dodge Police Department and the Division of Criminal Investigations are investigating this incident. Fort Dodge Police Chief Tim Carmody said he encourages anyone who may have been in the area or may have knowledge of this incident to contact the Fort Dodge Police Department.
