Iowa Central Community College’s Health Science Department recently hosted a Health Competition in which local high school students competed.
More than 50 students from seven area high schools competed in 10 events including CPR, Patient Care Skills, A/P Nutrition, Medical Mathematics, Internet Treasure Hunt, Medical Terminology, Quiz Whiz, Health Display, Essay and Team Unity.
First place winners in each category received a $200 scholarship, second place finishers received a $150 scholarship and third place winners received a $100 scholarship.
In addition to those scholarships, students also competed in an essay contest. Karli Ludwig-Payer of Southern Cal High School was this year’s winner. She will receive a $500 scholarship to Iowa Central to study Health Science. Southern Cal received the Team Unity award. They will receive a certificate, a traveling trophy and a pizza party courtesy of Iowa Central.
