June 27, 2011
By BILL SHEA, Messenger staff writer , Messenger News

Former Fort Dodge Community School District Superintendent David Haggard will lead the school system in his hometown of Glidden for the next two academic years.

''I will be working in some of the same buildings I went to school in,'' Haggard said.

He said he's committed to ensuring that students of the Glidden-Ralston Community School District get the same high quality education he received there.

Michele Schroeder, the president of the Glidden-Ralston Board of Education, said the board has hired Haggard to serve as the district's interim superintendent for two years. She said he will begin his duties there on Friday.

''We look forward to having him aboard as superintendent in Glidden,'' she said.

Haggard will replace Vicki Lowe, who will retire as the Glidden-Ralston superintendent on Thursday.

He led the Fort Dodge school district from 1988 to 2005.

Since retiring he's operated his own business, Encore Consulting. He has also served as the interim Fort Dodge city manager in 2006 and as the interim director of the Fort Dodge Housing Agency.
