MANSON - The Manson Meridian Sing-ers will soon start its 41st season of musical entertainment.

Each season starts with prospective member auditions.

This year's auditions will be 6:45 to 9 p.m. Sept. 8, at the Manson Northwest Webster High School media center. Auditions are open to anyone.

This short audition will take approximately 10 minutes and will consist of vocal warm-ups to determine voice part and range, singing a section of a prepared song and singing a short portion of sight-reading from another song.

Jerrold Jimmerson, of Manson, will direct the group again this year. Piano accompanists again will be Lori Erkenbrack, Rockwell City, and Jill Pliner, Rolfe.

Interested singers may try out individually or in groups of two, but if trying out in groups, the two voices should not sing the same part.

Singers who have participated in any previous Meridian productions for three years or more do not need to audition, but do need to contact Jimmerson before Sept. 6 to inform him of their wish to participate.

Interested singers may pick up an audition packet and sign up for an audition time during regular business hours at the Collmann Agency in Manson, 1011 Main St. The phone number is (712) 469-3346.

The first rehearsal of the new group will be at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 22 in the high school media center. Rehearsals will continue mostly on Thursday nights through December, then begin two rehearsals each week, Monday and Thursday, during January preparation for the annual show.

This season's annual shows will be Feb. 9, 11 and 12, 2012.

Jimmerson may be reached at (712) 469-2797.
