Trinity Health Partner at Trinity Regional Medical Center has openings available for the stroke, AAA, peripheral vascular disease and bone density (a screening for osteoporosis) screens scheduled Monday.
The screens are held in the Cardiac Rehab area of Trinity Regional Medical Center.
The stroke screen consists of a risk factor questionnaire, blood pressure and pulse checks, nonfasting cholesterol determination, three-lead EKG for heart regularity and ultrasounds of the carotid arteries. The abdominal aortic aneurysm screen includes the risk factor questionnaire, blood pressure and pulse checks and abdominal ultrasounds. Pressures in all four limbs are assessed to perform the peripheral vascular disease screen.
Trimark vascular surgeon, Dr. Michael Willerth, will review screening results and provide follow-up care instructions if needed.
The bone density screen consists of an ultrasound of the heel. Heel density is considered an accurate risk indicator of osteoporosis. The screen participant will need to remove both the shoe and sock on one foot to have the test performed and will receive the results immediately.
The cost for the Stroke, AAA and the PVD screenings is $35 each ($100 for all three screenings), and the bone density is $25. If all four screens are done, the cost is $115.
