To the editor:
With the help and support of many people, we raised $2,800 at our First United Methodist Fall 2011 Rummage and Bake Sale. All proceeds are used to support our missionaries at Red Bird Missions and in Zimbabwe. Not only does the sale benefit our missions, there are also benefits for local organizations. In addition to the items sold, clothing and household items were donated to the YWCA, D/SAOC, Beacon of Hope, Women of the Well Prison Ministry, Boy Scout Troop No. 9, Operation Christmas and Goodwill Industries. Books were donated to the Fort Dodge Public Library. Bingo prizes were given to the Community Meal and to a nursing home. Vases were donated to Beckers. T- shirts were given to Grace Lutheran to make those wonderful bags which they send to Haiti for people to carry their produce to and from the market and to make dresses for children.
The fall church rummage sale was once again a success in raising money for missions, but it couldn't "happen" without the help and support of many people. Thank you to: The Messenger, which helped promote the sale with ads, articles, the community calendar, and Go and Do listing; Boy Scout Troop No. 9, whose members set up the tables for the sale; the many people who donated items, made delicious baked items, and worked at the sale; and the people who purchased items
See you in the spring for our next sale.
