ALGONA - Bishop Garrigan's football season came to an abrupt halt with a 31-22 setback to 10th-ranked Akron-Westfield in opening-round Class A playoff action on Wednesday.
Reece Wadle led Garrigan with 54 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries. Wadle reached paydirt from 25, 25 and 11 yards out.
Grant Reding ran 13 times for 62 yards as well for Garrigan (6-4), who was making its eighth straight postseason appearance.
On the defensive side of the ball, Jake Kollasch collected 12 tackles for the Golden Bears, while Mitch Rahm recorded nine stops.
