State Rep. Helen Miller, D-Fort Dodge, has been named to a new panel that will develop standards for teaching agricultural subjects.
Her appointment to the Council for Agriculture Education was announced by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, D-Des Moines.
''Rep. Miller's experience on agriculture issues will be instrumental to the council's critical work," he said in a written statement.
Miller is the top Democrat on the House Agriculture Committee.
The Council for Agriculture Education was created during this year's legislative session. It consists of nine members, including teachers, students and elected officials who will review, develop and recommend standards for agriculture education.
