Mary Sersland has joined the LifeWorks Community Services board of directors. As a board member, Sersland will provide oversight to LifeWorks' paid leadership.
The mission of LifeWorks is to provide opportunities for growth and achievement for people with disabilities who face barriers to independence and integation in employment and daily living.
Sersland, a special education teacher with the Prairie Valley Community School District, is a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
Sersland graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor of arts degree in elementary and special education, and from Morningside College with a master of arts degree in education.
She and husband John have three adult children, Peter, Eva and Zachary.
