Three local food producer meetings are being planned in north central Iowa for late November and early December to help encourage planning for the expanding local food opportunities in this region.
Healthy Harvest of North Iowa, a regional food system group, focused on nine northcentral Iowa counties, is organizing these meetings in partnership with Iowa State University Extension offices.
The intent of the meetings are to strengthen the grower network and explore what resources are needed to help improve local food production.
Organizers hope to meet with local food producers who want to engage in growth and development strategies and also measure the interest in collaborative marketing.
Experienced, as well as new growers, are encouraged to attend.
Organizers hope food producers of all products - vegetables, fruit, herbs and meat - will attend the gatherings.
Meeting dates and locations are as follows:
Nov. 28, at 7 p.m., for Wright and Franklin counties, at a location to be announced later.
Nov. 29, at 7 p.m. at the Kossuth County ISU Extension office in Algona.
Dec. 1, at 7 p.m, in the Curran Room at the Cerro Gordo IU Extension office in Mason?City.
