Franchisee: FD Perkins set to open in spring 2012

Ground has been broken for a new Perkins Restaurant & Bakery, south of the intersection of South 32nd Street and Fifth Avenue South.

Construction is scheduled to continue over the winter months, said Perkins franchisee Jim Rahfaldt, of CyHawk Hospitality Inc.

"We anticipate a May 2012 grand opening if the winter weather cooperates with us," Rahfaldt said in a prepared statement.

The Fort Dodge Perkins will seat 200 guests in three distinct dining rooms, including two private meeting rooms able to accommodate up to 45 people for more intimate gatherings or meetings.

"We could not be more pleased to be bringing a Perkins to Fort Dodge," Rahfaldt said. "The community at-large has been extremely supportive and excited about having Perkins Restaurant & Bakery right at their doorstep. For years, Perkins has become synonymous with family dining excellence - great food at a great value, and personalized, friendly service. We look forward to bringing that memorable dining experience to the Fort Dodge community."

The Perkins restaurant in Fort Dodge will be open seven days a week and will feature Perkins' complete menu. The restaurant also plans to be open 24 hours during the weekend days. The Fort Dodge Perkins will also feature Perkins' in-house bake shop.

Rahfaldt said he anticipates the new restaurant will create close to 100 new jobs.

There are currently close to 450 Perkins Restaurants & Bakeries in 34 states across the country and five Canadian provinces.
