To the editor:
Once again my huge light display of over 100,000 bulbs are on for everyone who will take the time to come here to see the largest and the most unique display in Iowa.
If I worked 72 days to erect this year, the least you can do is to come and see what I do for everyone.
But to really enjoy and to see everything, you must get out to walk all over my yard in my shoveled paths so you don't slip or fall. It takes me several hours to shovel by hand every time it snows, three hours this last snow. Snow blowers won't work in the grass. Just think, more than 650 drop cords, besides more than 1,000 feet of cable underground to feed the 52 breakers and the five motors that runs everything, at about $6 an hour.
The only help I get is the donations I receive and I'm always lucky to break even, but I'll keep doing as long as I'm able and besides I'm only 83 on March 2 and I still do 95 percent of the erecting myself.
Remember they are always on the night before Thanksgiving through Jan. 2 - every year about 40 nights to view regardless of what you have read or heard previously.
Hope to see you all soon and I'm usually outside to greet you, to shake your hand and listen to your comments.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone.
