Smith to run ICCC athletic bands

Jeremy Smith has been hired to run the Iowa Central Community College athletic bands.

Smith's main task will be the creation of an Iowa Central marching band that will perform at halftime of football games, beginning this fall. In addition, Smith will head the pep band that will perform at home basketball games.

Smith has been an adjunct instructor in the performing arts department in the applied percussion and percussion ensemble classes since 2006. He will continue to teach those classes. Smith graduated from Southern Cal High School, Lake City, in 1992 and from Morningside College, Sioux City, in 1995.

He is member of the Karl L. King Municipal Band as a percussionist, personnel manager and as a member of the board of directors. He is the marching band percussion coach at Fort Dodge Senior High and a member of the Iowa Bandmaster Association.
