Ryan Maehl, recreation administrator for the city of Fort Dodge, Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department, has received his certified playground safety inspector designation from the National Recreation and Park Association in Kansas City, Mo.
CPSIs perform audits to check conformity to American Society for Testing and Materials standards and Consumer Product Safety Commission guidelines for public playground equipment, surfacing and general protocols.
There are 48 registered CPSIs in Iowa.
Among Maehl's duties will inspections and overseeing maintenence and care of facilities, including new playground equipment at Oleson, Loomis and Snell-Crawford parks, in addition to Rosedale Rapids and the Harlan and Hazel Rogers Sports Complex.
