The Fort Dodge Area Symphony will be performing its third concert of the season at 3 p.m. March 4 at Phillips Middle School Auditorium. Admission is by season membership or tickets at the door: $10 adult, $6 student.
The program, "Symphonic Stories," will open with Johann Strauss' "Overture to Die Fledermaus." It will also include Delius' "Walk to the Paradise Garden" and conclude with Tchaikovsky's suite from "The Sleeping Beauty," a retelling of the fairy tale.
The guest conductor will be Brett Cooper, director of Music Ministries for First Presbyterian Church of Fort Dodge and recently the music director for Comedia Musica Players. He is a graduate of Luther College.
The soloist for the concert will be cellist Laura Cooper, the orchestra director for the Fort Dodge Community School District. She will be performing Saint Saens' "Cello Concerto No. 1." She is a 2009 graduate of Luther College. While at Luther she toured extensively in the United States and in Europe, including a performance at the Vienna Konzerthaus.
