FD woman facing assault charge

A Fort Dodge woman is facing felony assault charges.

According to court documents, Susan E. Wheat, 54, allegedly cut a man with a straight-edge blade. She's alleged to have stated she was trying to cut the man's neck, but injured his hand instead.

The man was later treated and released.

Wheat was charged with willful injury, a Class C felony, and aggravated domestic abuse.

At her initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Monday, Magistrate Steve Kersten ordered Wheat held on $12,000 bond, and issued a no-contact order between her and the alleged victim.

Wheat's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday.

Nordstrom charged with felony assault

A Sioux City man is facing felony charges after allegedly assaulting a woman.

Randall Nordstrom, 47, is charged with domestic abuse, third offense, which is a Class D felony.

According to the criminal complaint filed in the Webster County attorney's office, Nordstrom hit a woman with an "open fist" and caused bruising, scrapes and possible internal injuries to her.

Nordstrom was originally charged back in October, but allegedly didn't show up for his preliminary hearing in November. He was arrested Sunday after being pulled over in Fort Dodge for alleged traffic violations.

In addition to the domestic abuse charge, Nordstrom is also charged with violation of parole, driving under suspension, failure to have an ignition interlock device, and not having a proper child restraint.

Nordstrom is being held on $10,000 bond for both the domestic abuse and violation of parole charges.

Magistrate Steve Kersten scheduled Nordstrom's preliminary hearing for Saturday, and continued the simple misdemeanors for 180 days.
