Jim Butler, a Fort Dodge native, has been selected by the Mid America Print Council for the Outstanding Printmaking Award for 2012, to be presented at the Mid America Print Conference at Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, Mo., on Nov. 1.
The award is given every two years to the printmaker who has made significant contributions to the art of printmaking in middle America.
Butler will also have a one-person exhibition and present a lecture about his prints, drawings and paintings during the conference.
Butler has his work hanging in galleries worldwide, including the Art Institute of Chicago, Butler Institute of American Art, Library of Congress, New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, Smithsonian Institute, New York Public Library, Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Royal Academy of Art in London.
While attending Fort Dodge Senior High, Butler was tutored by Robert Halm.
