Ott charged with
assaulting officer
A Fort Dodge man has been charged after he allegedly hit a police officer.
John S. Ott, 18, was at the Webster County Law Enforcement Center, 702 First Ave. S., on March 20, according to the criminal complaint filed with the Webster County attorney's office. Ott, while at the LEC, allegedly hit a police officer in the upper lip.
The officer's upper lip started bleeding, according to the complaint, which went on to say Ott had to be placed in handcuffs after resisting officers.
Ott appeared in Webster County Magistrate Court on Tuesday, charged with assault on a peace officer, a Class D felony, possession of alcohol underage and being in a park after hours. Magistrate Steve Kersten released Ott with supervision to the Department of Correctional Services, and sent the case to District Court for scheduling.
