To the editor:
Since March is National Kidney Month, I thought I would bring attention to the need for organ donation. Since recently being at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., for my husband's kidney transplant, I became very aware of all of the people in need of a "solid organ transplant."
I would also like to clear up a misconception that most people have in regards to organ donation. I am living proof that you do not need to be "blood related" in order to donate a kidney to a loved one, friend or complete stranger.
It is the greatest opportunity for renewed health and well being and represents the highest form of generosity and compassion for others.
