POCAHONTAS - The sixth annual Pocahontas Garden Extravaganza will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pocahontas Expo Center.

Admission is $3 to help defray expenses; kids are free. Door prizes will be given from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The show will feature 23 exhibitors including eight area greenhouses and flower shops, two pottery vendors, a patio vendor, the local Chamber of Commerce, and four educational displays. The Pocahontas County Extension Service will offer free educational materials, and Master Gardeners will be available to answer gardening questions.

Three educational presentations will be held at the fair office: 9:30, "Container Gardening" by Kevin Fehr; 10:30, "Nature Photography" by Don Poggensee; and 11:30, "Raised Vegetable Gardening" by Karie Vrba.

The Pocahontas County Conservation Service will also offer educational materials as well as a stepping-stone making activity. Those wanting to participate should bring a disposable pie tin; the other supplies will be provided.

The show is hosted by the Pocahontas County Master Gardeners and the Iowa State University Extension Service.
