OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla - Hobby Lobby Stores, a privately held national retail chain of arts and crafts stores, welcomes Las Vegas, Nev., as its home to Hobby Lobby's 500th store with its official grand opening on April 16.
"Our unique store provides the inspiration that keeps Hobby Lobby moving forward as a leader in the crafts industry," said John Schumacher, assistant vice president of advertising.
"The excitement of our 500th store, located in Las Vegas, marks yet another milestone in our nationwide expansion plan, as we continue to open about 35 new locations each year. In 2011 alone, we entered California and opened six stores, made our first entry into New Hampshire and just recently opened our first location in New Jersey ... We will keep moving forward to provide our customers an enjoyable and enriched shopping experience while finding exceptional value and the widest variety of home decor merchandise and crafting supplies all under one roof," he said.
Hobby Lobby Stores Inc., headquartered in Oklahoma City, started as an outgrowth of Greco Products, a miniature picture frames company founded in a garage by David Green in 1970.
Today, Hobby Lobby has 500 stores across the nation that average 55,000 square feet in size.
Ant expansion at the Fort Dodge Hobby Lobby earlier this year increased its footprint by more than 25 percent to 46,841 square feet.
