The Fort Dodge City Council will consider allowing people to burn yard waste for about two weeks this spring.

The council is expected to act on temporarily lifting the ban on such burning from April 28 to May 6 when it meets Monday.

The council meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S., with a presentation by the Fort Dodge Community Foundation and United Way.

The regular business meeting will begin at 6 p.m. In addition to the burning ban, the elected officials are scheduled to act on selling the former IBP plant property at 1525 Ave. O to Maxx Tree Service for $5,000 and some future tree removal work for the city.

Also on the agenda is an engineering contract for sanitary sewer work and the first reading of amendments to the city's laws on signs.

Following the business meeting there will be two workshop discussions. One will be about the hazard mitigation plan; the other will be about proposed changes to the site plan ordinance.
