FD man held on felony charge

A Fort Dodge man has been arrested on felony charges.

Joseph R. Passow, 19, of Fort Dodge, has been charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and criminal trespass.

According to court documents, Passow threatened to shoot his brother with what was described as a "pellet-type handgun." Passow allegedly showed the gun during the argument, and used it in a way that "would and could cause a person serious injury or death."

He's also accused of forcing himself into a home by kicking the door. Court documents indicate Passow damaged the door, a door jamb and locks, causing between $200 and $500 in damage.

Though Passow was originally released on his own recognizance, at his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Monday, Magistrate William Thatcher ordered Passow held on $6,000 bond.

Thatcher said he changed his mind after Passow couldn't name the address he was living at, which he said was his girlfriend's house.

Passow's preliminary hearing will be April 18.
