To the editor:

In response to Kathy Moe's wonderful column about National Volunteer Week and the volunteers at Trinity Regional Medical Center's campus (April 8), I'd like to include my thanks and gratitude to our very special hospice volunteers at Trinity Hospice and the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.

Since Trinity Hospice began in 1983, we have relied on the compassion and support of our volunteers. We now have over 170 wonderful individuals who give of their time and talents serving our hospice patients and families in many different ways. Some of our volunteers work directly with patients, visiting with them, reading to them, and providing respite care. Other volunteers choose to support the mission of hospice by assisting with fundraising efforts, clerical work and general support. Whatever your talent or time, we have many different opportunities and levels of commitment for volunteers to help.

Over the years, we've had so many touching stories illustrating the service of our volunteers. These are just a small sample:

Many of our volunteers feel inspired and gratified to serve our hospice patients and families. If you are interested in becoming a hospice volunteer, Trinity For more information, call (515) 574-8511.
