SOMERS - Dan Bird, superintendent of schools in Burwell, Neb., was elected the Region IV candidate for Superintendent of the Year at a meeting of the Nebraska Association of School Administrators.
Bird, the son of Dan and Janet Bird, of Somers, is a 1979 graduate of Cedar Valley Community Schools. He has been Burwell superintendent since 1998. He received his undergraduate degree from Wayne State College and his master's in educational administration from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
