To the editor:
Thanks to all the great volunteers who helped with the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance Image Committee's FOD Walk/ Spring Clean-Up on April 17. What a great team effort.
Volunteers included Alzheimer's Association, city of Fort Dodge and its Public Works Department (for the trash bin), Crossroads Mall employees, DART for providing a bus to transport volunteers to various locations for trash pickup, Fort Dodge Community Foundation and United Way, Friendship Haven, La'James International College and PICA.
Thanks also to Anthony Bruno, Larry Jessen and Curt Olson for helping to pick up all the trash bags and to Rhonda Chambers for being a great cheerleader to champion the cause for a clean and litter-free city.
We had a great turnout with even better results - 145 full bags of trash were collected, and 261 cans/bottles were collected and given to PICA to be redeemed and used for their many projects.
Please remember to dispose of trash appropriately - especially cigarette butts.
If we all take that extra small step, we'll continue to make a positive difference.
