Cougars, Indians win in Manson

MANSON - The Manson Northwest Webster boys secured top honors in the Class A division of their own Mike Jepson Relays on Tuesday night.

Behind five gold medals and five silvers, the Cougars racked up 132 points. St. Edmond (124) and Carroll (86) were next in line.

Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer won the Class B division with 198 points. Southeast Webster-Grand (82) was second and Laurens-Marathon (76) was third.

Earning titles for MNW were Josh Markert (long jump, 20-07.50), Avery Birchard (shot put, 46-04.50), the 4x100 (44.52), the 4x200 (1:33.25) and the 4x400 (3:29.06). Turning in runner-up showings as well for the Cougars were Brody Eischeid (200, 23.66 and 400, 50.60), Chris Stuhrenberg (long jump, 20-0), Kolin Sukovaty (shot put, 46-02.5) and the sprint medley (3:49.26).

Neil Flattery (400, 49.85 and 800, 1:57.50) and Hank Lentsch (110 hurdles, 15.77 and high jump, 6-02) were each double champions for the Gaels, while Cory Angstrom (200, 23.44) added a victory as well for St. Edmond.

Placing second for the Gaels were Aaron McElroy (100, 11.81), Seth Reel (3200, 10:48.19), the 4x200 (1:33.41) and shuttle hurdle (1:03.03).

South Central Calhoun's wins came from Ryan Daisy (1600, 4:47.26) and Jake Petzenhauser (400 hurdles, 56.12). Petzenhauser (110 hurdles, 16.08) and the 4x800 (8:34.92) were each second for the Titans.

Kaleb Kiger (3200, 10:22.87) and Jayson Edge (discus, 145-01) delivered triumphs for Humboldt, while Bryan Larson (discus, 128-07) was a runner-up for the Wildcats.

Brandon Johnson (high jump, 5-08) and the 4x400 (3:36.22) were both second for Eagle Grove.

East Sac County's Collin Schrader (800, 2:00.13) and Prairie Valley's Jakob Lantz (1600, 4:52.47) also finished second in their respective events.

The Indians won 10 events on the night, including all six relay events.

PA/P-P won the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, 4x800, sprint medley and shuttle hurdle relay.

Also winning for the Indians was Dan?Jarvis (3200), Austin Behrendsen (110-meter hurdles), Mitch Bauer (shot put) and Logan Jepson (discus).

Justin DaSilva and Alex Runneberg doubled up for Laurens-Marathon.

DaSilva won the 100- and 200-meter dash, while Runneberg won the 400- and 800-meters.

Tyler Hinman won the 400-meter hurdles for Southeast Webster-Grand and Nolan Mitchell was the long jump champion.
