To the editor:
On behalf of the It gets Better - FD team, we would like to thank the community of Fort Dodge for coming out and being heard on April 28 at our first Youth Empowerment Rally.
It has been a humbling experience. The attendance proves that Fort Dodge is flourishing for the good of all people.
The team and I would like to thank the following for their committed support and love for our community: Three Eagles Communications for taking on so quickly to this idea in the first stages of development, Doug Ostbloom from the Fire Department who supported us with a generator so we may have our speakers be heard, Rep. Helen Miller, Sen. Daryl Beall, Mayor Matt Bemrich, Councilman Andy Fritz, Kris Nerum Lowery with Iowa Central Community College, Valerie Walburn, Leiloani Grell, Fort Dodge press, Human Rights Commission, Nikkie Summers for use of the megaphone, Eric Espinoza with A&E Custom Prints, Miss Kennedy at the Senior high and her S.P.E.A.K. group, Kevin Crimmins, Alexis Peterson, Eric William and Fair Oaks middle school.
Thank you to the 137 people who came out to brave the 40 degree weather to take a stand.
This is only the beginning. It Gets Better FD challenges all to join the cause. To be part of the solution. This is only the kickoff, for many good things yet to come.
This is a community-building movement that can become a leader in the fight if we grasp this. Together we can and will be the change we want to see.
Thank you so much.
