DES MOINES (AP) - A central Iowa couple has dropped plans to build two hog confinement buildings designed for 5,000 animals after neighbors protested.
Mike and Susan Brelsford, of Perry, withdrew their permit request from consideration as county supervisors prepared to discuss the issue Tuesday evening.
In a letter, the Brelsfords said they were third-generation family farmers with values deeply rooted to farming the land for today and the future, and were strong supporters of their rural community.
Brelsford Family Farms had applied to build a two-building confinement facility in Beaver Township in northern Dallas County.
