St. Edmond Ball succeeds

To the editor:

The 29th annual Friends of St. Edmond Ball was a great success for the many supporters of Catholic education in the Fort Dodge Community. As co-chairs, we wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to the numerous volunteers and supporters that assisted us in raising $235,000 to aid the St. Edmond Catholic Schools. As tuition covers just over half of the cost to educate each of our students, events such as our ball, Holy Trinity Parish and other revenue sources provide the remainder of the costs.

Catholic education has a long tradition in Webster County dating back to the 1860s. This longevity is due to the hard work and sacrifice of many that support our mission of faith and academics. As St. Edmond alumni, parents and stakeholders, we are proud to be a part of this institution, we are proud of our students, our stakeholders, our teachers and staff. The dedication by all, to educate and nurture our children - our masterpiece - makes supporting St. Edmond seem effortless. We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the St. Edmond family, which was evident at our gala. The diversity of our crowd, the young and the not quite as young, alumni, parents and newcomers, showcases the support of our mission, and the belief in our effort to educate the whole student, academically, spiritually and socially.

Thank you, and may God's blessings be with you.
